David is an incredibly driven and talented individual. He Lives and breathes SAM and this is reflected in how the staff valued his expertise. He has a great force about him and though he has accomplished so much already, I know great things lie ahead of him. No hesitation in recommending him.
David "The Geek" Foxen absolutely loves SAM and ITAM and it shows in his writing as an analyst at ITAMReview. I've worked with David as a supplier and as a colleague across a number of organisations and his enthusiasm for SAM knows no bounds. David is a prodigious creator of well written and balanced content across many SAM topics. David's talent as an analyst will take him a long way in his career and I would without a shadow of doubt work with him again and you know what - he is a really really nice fella with it!
During my all too brief period of working with David, he proved himself to be dedicated and fast learning professional. I would not hesitate to recommend him in the future.
David has managed to save c£2m by implementing best practice SAM into a global FTSE50 company. David's wealth of knowledge in the SAM domain is extensive and through his enthusiasm has managed to inspire IT colleagues in over 40 countries, spanning EMEA, Americas and APAC to become SAM champions. Delivered a sustainable foundation for the continuous improvement of the way the organisation procures and manages licencing and a key attribute within the IT Service Management model. A job very well done!
David was great to work with and always brought fun and light to the team. He knows his way around software asset management and was a great asset. Wonderful to work with you, and sad to see you go, David.
David was extremely knowledgeable of SAM processes and took on a great task within our IT department. His work is still praised to this day. Additionally, he was a great person to have within the department, kind, thoughtful and always willing to share his knowledge or provide advice.
David is a very complete software asset manager. In Arup, he implemented processes that should help with our software asset management for years to come. On a personal level, I found him to be professional, approachable and knowledgeable.
From the first time I met David I knew working alongside him would be a positive experience. His work ethic is second to none and his knowledge within his field is truly remarkable. His diligence and perseverance to ensure the right thing is done despite blockers and obstacles shows true drive and passion, this is a trait that is highly commendable and an asset to any company that he works for. David goes above and beyond what is expected and shows true desire to provide a level of service that exceeds all expectations. Aside from work, David is truly a great person. Smart, honest and full of light hearted wit and humour he is a joy to be around and has transitioned from being just a colleague to friend.
In the short time that I have worked with David, I can honestly say I have never worked with someone so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Software Asset Management! Consistent in his delivery of high-quality content, David is a reliable individual and a fantastic team player who is always happy to help out. The fun-natured personality of the #SAMbeast will be truly missed in the office!
David is a highly intelligent individual. He is proactive rather than reactive and will be a great asset to any organisation he works for.
I got to know David about 12 months prior to him starting with ITAM Review, and I can honestly say that it has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to engage with him on all matters SAM & ITAM related. His drive and willingness to espouse the merits of this discipline through his writing is infectious. What a good egg!
I had the good fortune to work alongside David during my time as a junior consultant at Johnson Matthey. Aside from the fact that it was abundantly clear that David is extremely good at what he does, savings were achieved whilst he was still setting up a software asset management capability in JM, virtually from scratch. He hit the ground running and was willing to wade through the complexities of JM’s licensing situation beyond the call of duty. David brings a remarkable positive energy to the workplace – he can be relied on equally for a dose of professionalism or humour, and his passion for his work is nothing short of inspiring.
The term 'He's a machine' was coined specifically for David. Never have I known someone with so many questions and ideas floating around in his head which makes for an excellent analyst. David's mission is to help the ITAM community with his reviews and articles whilst maintaining absolute integrity. I enjoyed working with David immensely and hope to do so again in the future.
I worked with David at Kier Group, he was passionate at ITAM and this showed in the work he produced. He is very easy to get along with and a good team player. He is very knowledgeable about software and hardware asset management and will make a real impact at Kier. I would love the chance to work with him again and would recommend him to any company looking at implementing or enhancing their ITAM function.
David is a personable, charismatic and dedicated subject matter expert specialising in Software Asset Management and ITAM. We worked together at Johnson Matthey, where he had successfully introduced and implemented streamlined SAM processes delivering significant transformation and associated costs savings and efficiencies. This activity helped raise the profile of SAM within the IT organisation through his demonstrated success. David is a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him to any organisation.
David Foxen is a top-notch ITAM specialist. He is easy to work with, highly skilled and consistently reliable in the service he provides. He communicates well and is capable of working at his best in a variety of environments. I look forward to the opportunity of working with him again.
I first met David (aka #SAMBeast) when he was an avid reader and contributor to The ITAM Review. His infectious enthusiasm for ITAM was a great fit for The ITAM Review and David made a valuable and long-lasting contribution towards our community, including wrangling with some feisty suppliers in product reviews and writing evergreen articles and resources for our sites. David also helped us on a few consulting engagements, assisting companies find the right path with their ITAM strategy. David always brings fun and enthusiasm to all his endeavours and I hope he continues to work in the ITAM field, bringing a fresh and modern perspective to an important, but sometimes dry, subject.
I would say David’s knowledge and experience of all things ITAM / SAM is second to none and dovetails with his extremely good understanding of Configuration Management which made working with him an absolute joy. His passion for his subject matter combined with his enthusiasm, good humour and tenacity I found both inspiring and infectious. During David’s appointment at Kier, he drove through a great number of initiatives to both identify and address ITAM / SAM shortcomings and put the necessary measures in place to improve Kiers ability to track and manage its IT hardware and software assets and, along the way, saved Kier rather a lot of money via the reclamation of assets and software licenses. I will very much miss having David around as a colleague, advisor and friend; I really do hope that sometime in the future that we will be able to collaborate again as it was a real honour and pleasure to work with him. Any company fortunate enough to hire David will find that he is an immense asset.
It has been a joy to work with David during his time at Kier. His passion and enthusiasm for ITAM is infectious and his knowledge and experience are beyond reproach. David uses his experience to deliver powerful messages about the benefits of ITAM to stakeholders and to IT leaders alike. I have been part of meetings where David has gained full support for ITAM, from members of the business who, by the end of the meeting, couldn't have it quick enough. Everything David promotes and implements is backed up with robust/supporting data, process, governance and action (let alone the savings he has made for Kier!) Very much a team player and personally I got on extremely well with him and will miss our chats about ITAM and beyond. I really hope I get the opportunity to work with David again and if you’re looking for someone to either implement, improve or embed ITAM, David is your man without question.
I have had the pleasure of working with David whilst he introduced ITAM and SAM best practice at Kier. David brought a wealth of knowledge to the company, together with an abundance of enthusiasm towards cost avoidance and realising the benefits of previous investments. David always takes time to seek and understand, which is vital in a changing organisation. We worked on a few projects together to remove oversubscribed licences and reclaim unused assets. All projects were successful and ultimately saved the company £1000’s in cost avoidance. As a person, David is passionate, fun and determined to succeed. David is easy to talk to and has similar interests which always helps build rapport. I sincerely hope to bump into David in the future and wish him every success in helping businesses keep their assets under control.
David is quite literally a Master when it comes to HAM / SAM; what he does not know about this topic is not worth knowing! I was fortunate to work with David whilst at Schroders Investment Management where he transformed our Global HAM function by overhauling existing processes and procedures in addition to creating many new ones. He is very professional in all he does, and his work output is of the highest standards. To many, HAM / SAM is the not the most exciting topic of conversation and it tends to be neglected as a result but, somehow, David has a knack of making the topic interesting and this was such an important part of our transformation. Our Global team no longer sees HAM as a chore but instead something they are genuinely interested in and keen to learn more and take forward. This is testament to David’s delivery. David is very approachable, is easy to talk with and has a great sense of humour; he became a vital part of the Service Management function within Schroders and will be greatly missed both as a professional and a friend in the office when he moves onto his next challenge. I would have no hesitation in recommending David for anything HAM / SAM related no matter the size.
If I had to describe David in five terms : Passion, Ethic, Knowledge, Efficiency, High Standards. When I met David I immediately saw that he was passionate about his work and this is why he was able to deliver such a good job to our firm. He is the type of guy that only targets excellence and won’t stop working until the goal is reached. He was a true asset working for us. I never thought about the importance of ITAM before meeting him and through his experience, our regular meetings, he completely hooked me in, making me understand how important this is. On a personal side, I found in David an incredible sense of humour, deep personality and a real professionalism which makes him one of the best colleagues you could wish for. Always willing to help, never against doing the extra step to make sure that everything will go smoothly even if it’s out of his area. I wouldn’t have any difficulties recommending David. He would bring a true added-value to any company he would work for.
